Our pastors

Bishop Robert and First Lady Vicky MacDonald

Pastor Robert MacDonald was born and raised in Nova Scotia Canada, and came to know Jesus at age 15. After he reached college age he decided to further his walk with Christ and attend Faith School of Theology (Now Faith Bible College International). He started taking classes to become a pastor. While at the school he met his Wife Vicky. Vicky was born and raised in Northern Maine, graduated high-school at seven-teen and headed off to college.

Pastor Robert Graduated in the year 1982 and Sister Vicky graduated in the year 1981. They were both married in 1982 shortly after the Graduation. From college they headed right into ministry. They ministered in Northern Maine for about 30 years. They pastored churches, filled in at different places, and ran a Christian horse ranch for troubled teens.

They have always been highly mission minded and always looked for opportunities to help in any way they could. Pastor Robert went on missions to Russia and Africa. Sister Vicky accompanied him on two occasions to Africa as well. They have been working to further their reaches into the missions world.

At age 38 Pastor Robert returned to school at UMPI for a degree in social work. Through this him and his wife opened their doors to more than just teens. People from all around the world who attended with him would at times come and stay and hear the Gospel as well as be cared for. In the year 2011 Pastor Robert felt a call to come to Connecticut. He and his family packed and moved and 5 years later became senior pastor of Lighthouse Family Worship Center.

statement of faith

We believe

  1. In the verbal inspiration of the Bible.
  2. In one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
  3. That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven, and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.
  4. That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for the forgiveness of sins.
  5. That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.
  6. In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word and by the Holy Ghost.
  7. Holiness to be God’s standard of living for His people.
  8. In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart.
  9. In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
  10. In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.
  11. Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.
  12. In the Lord’s Supper and washing of the saint’s feet.
  13. In the premillennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years.
  14. In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous and eternal punishment for the wicked.

about us

The New Britain Church Of God (Lighthouse Family Worship Center) was born out of a great desire of a few men and women who sought God with hunger for the Holy Spirit’s blessings upon them as He blessed the church in it’s beginning according to the books of Acts.

The records show that prayer meetings were being conducted in the late 1930’s and the New Britain Church of God was officially organized on February 4, 1944.

Reverend T. Seamans served as the first pastor, with his wife Grace Seamans serving as church clerk. Both of them worked at a boy’s home in Meriden, CT, a town about twenty miles away from New Britain.

The first church met in a storefront building on East Street, and then the congregation moved to a location on the corner of Laselle and Tremont Street.  This building was erected and only the basement of the church was completed. The people then bought a church already built on Gold Street. In 1972-1973, property was bought and the present building was erected here at 1365 Stanley Street. The congregation moved into the new facility September 2, 1973, for worship.

There have been a number of pastors that have done an excellent job and the church grew under there leadership. The current Pastor  Robert and Vicky MacDonald. They came to assume the pastoral leadership in 2016.

In the years of our past we have witnessed a move of God’s grace and blessing. There have been heartaches, heartbreaks, disappointments, tragedies, and some have turned away from the church, but a multitude have followed Christ and have been faithful to His cause and call.  Now members are witnessing to others locally, across the nation and around the world.

This is our HERITAGE and as we look at our past with warm feelings, we look at our future with great anticipation, knowing that God is still building His church and the gates of hell shall not be able to resist its message and its power.

Thank God for Lighthouse Family Worship Center, a place where we can meet with God in prayer and in refreshing Pentecostal worship, and where fellowship of the saints of God is ever sweet.
